On June 27, the Government of B.C. announced new rebates for customers interested in installing solar panels and battery energy storage systems. These incentives are designed to make sustainable energy solutions more accessible and affordable.

Solar Panel Rebates
Harness the power of the sun and generate your own renewable energy. Solar panels are a smart choice for those looking to reduce electricity bills and achieve energy independence.
Rebate Details:
- Product: Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panels
- Available Rebate: Up to $5,000
- $1,000 per kilowatt (kW) of installed generator capacity
- Rebate amount capped at 50% of total installed product cost (including labour and materials)
- Maximum rebate: $5,000
Battery Storage Rebates
Battery storage systems allow you to store excess renewable energy for use during cloudy days, overnight, or during power outages, enhancing your energy security.
Rebate Details:
- Product: Battery Energy Storage Systems
- Minimum Storage Size: 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh)
- Available Rebate: Up to $5,000
- $500 per kWh of installed storage capacity
- Rebate amount capped at 50% of total installed product cost (including labour and materials)
- Maximum rebate: $5,000
Additional Incentives
We'll also be introducing rebates for:
- Apartment buildings
- Social housing providers
- Small and medium businesses
- Non-integrated areas
- Indigenous communities
How To Apply
Full eligibility details and application information will be available when the program officially launches later in July. Be sure to check back for the latest updates.
To qualify for rebates:
- Installations and connections must meet all specified eligibility requirements.
- Solar panel rebates are available for systems with net metering applications submitted on or after May 1, 2024, and installed after June 27, 2024.
- Battery energy storage rebates (without energy generation) require applications submitted on or after July 23, 2024.
All systems must be reviewed, approved, and connected to our grid through the self-generation program. Full eligibility criteria will be provided upon the program’s official launch.
